equality and equity... are they understood?

Equality and Equity between men and women is a fundamental human right. But consider these two photographs taken in Chunya Mbeya.

Equality and equity regardless being the "informal National anthem" it is most probably not clear to most of us. Do those terms mean what we see in the above shots? we need professionals to coin to us the terms soundly and justifiably. But on my view "women" are "women" and "men" are "men" and that will forever be.
