OWN MEDIA, CAN YOU?



In Tanzania studies show that many media organizations belong to business men and politician because professionals in media have no well used their professionalism in establishing media such as (Public Relations and advertising firms, Social network sites like blogs, television, radio, newspapers and also magazines).

It is important to assess yourself in terms of accountability, willingness, commitment, readiness as well as professionalism. In case of including a team in the media you are going to establish, it is better to assess the staffs you are going to work with. In our case as trained mass communicators we may decide to train the members so as to get what we want.


There is the endless possibility to mass communicators to have their media organization which will undoughtfully perform with efficiency. And here are tips on how to establish your own media organization.
1.      Planning
Set goals for the media you want to establish (make rational decisions on what are you going to do? What will be the content? Sports? Entertainment? Comic? Serious? Or the combination?
2.      Research (conduct a research on what to do?  Who will be your foremost audience? What are their needs? What is the situation now? How will you manage…5w’s plus H is your guideline asks yourself as much questions as possible. You may as well discuss with the colleagues and other experts including teachers and or media people on some questions you need answers.
It is necessarily to remember that, when you ask for advice or discuss with friends about your plans, you may hear more than what you expected. Some other chaps might totally discourage you, so the choice is yours you may consider only what make sense to you and ignore as well if they do not make sense to you. It is important to note that you are the final judge of your life.

3.      Establish the Staff (Leadership) (who will do what)
If you wish to establish the media which will be composed of the team it is essential to have the leadership.
 Director of programs

Managers of sectors 

Doers (who does what? Can h/se manage? 

Mass Communicators on demand.

Here it is important to apply Pareto principle. Make sure that you have vital few persons but for a remarkable achievement. Probably you are alone in the firm; make sure you employ few resources for remarkable success. But also in the organization you should have people or recruit staff to be full in utilizing the principle of vital few and trivial many.
